"The children learned a lot of new information and really enjoyed their day"

I am just writing to give you some feedback from our Roman soldier visit yesterday.

I would like to start by saying how impressed I was with Gary. He arrived early in order to give himself plenty of time to set up and agreed to start early (as our school starts at 8.40). He also decided to give up his lunch to go and sit in the canteen with the children, which really did make their day. He was prepared and knowledgeable and a good asset to your team.

The Workshop itself contained lots of information that really did grip the children and they were really intrigued about finding out more. The children learned a lot of new information and really enjoyed their day. Thank you for visiting our school.

"We all had such a lovely day"

Can I please say a big thank you to you and Lance who came to Stratton school today. We all had such a lovely day and we could not have done this without the expertise of yourselves.

"The children really were enthralled by your Romans!"

Thank you so much for your visit on Monday- it was brilliant. The children really were enthralled by your Romans! They are still talking about the Roman toilet and they loved the boys versus girls fight in the hall. It's really brought the subject alive for them.

"Entertaining and hugely informative"

We had a fantastic time! Caius was both entertaining and hugely informative for the children and everyone loved every minute. Thank you so much for giving the children such a memorable day.

You can expect a lot of letters in the post from the children in the next few days - all in one envelope!- telling you how much they enjoyed themselves or written as if they themselves were Romans. Thank you again and I hope that we will get the chance to repeat the experience for another class in future.

"The kids loved every minute"

The knowledge that Lance gave our children in a highly effective way was phenomenal. His teaching style was brilliant - humour, knowledge, excitement - we couldn't have asked for more and the kids loved every minute. I learned a great deal that I didn't know so feel so much more prepared to teach the children over the coming half term.

"They came home 'buzzing' about the whole experience"

We came on a trip with our Year 3 children to the museum today. The children had a wonderful time and were very excited all day. They came home 'buzzing' about the whole experience.

From the second we walked through the door we were made to feel so welcome by every member of staff we met. The Gladiators were just fantastic and the children were so engaged and switched on during the tour. When we returned to the museum, staff were there to help and point out where things were and as the trip leader I felt incredibly well supported in providing an enriching, fun and safe experience for our children.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to all who helped us have a truly wonderful day! From the girls working on reception, in the shop, the education officer and all of the other very friendly, helpful staff that we met.

"My entire class where hundred percent engaged"

We had a fabulous day during our last week of term when Marcus visited us as a Roman soldier. My entire class where hundred percent engaged for the full 6 1/2 hours he talked to us. We had a fun session in the hall learning different battle formations and some interesting artefact handling.

The children loved dressing up as Roman soldiers and handling the shields. Marcus' delivery was fun and engaging and the children are still talking about it on Twitter.

We will definitely be booking Roman Tours again for our 2016/17 Y4 class. We all learnt so much about the Roman way of life and life as a soldier – even the adults! Thank you again.

Chester Public Tours Feedback

"Thoroughly enjoyed it"

We enjoyed a great tour this afternoon! Titus was our guide - we were the only people on our tour so we got a fantastic personal experience, loads of information and it was entertaining for our 6-yr old son throughout. Fascinating to see the basement ruins in particular. Even as someone who grew up in Chester I learnt a lot and the three of us thoroughly enjoyed it. It was absolutely freezing but Titus survived like a true soldier! Thanks!

"Excellent"

Joined the midday tour today which was led by John (aka the Centurion "Pertinax"). He was EXCELLENT. Brought Roman Chester to life for us in an informal way. A great mix of banter and historical facts. Was not speaking from a script but a true enthusiast and obviously VERY knowledgeable. Led a large group and kept us fully engaged for 90 minutes as we toured locations in Chester. Spent a lot of time answering our questions particularly those of the children on the tour. Our 8-year-old boy really enjoyed it. A MUST DO in Chester !!

"Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend"

Great tour and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. We had some Dutch visitors over and decided this would be a fun and informative introduction to Chester. Our guide, Tiberius, is a great guy with a natural affinity with people and lots of knowledge about Roman Chester. His costume is amazing and we also listened with interest about his custom tattoos which look awesome. Tiberius took us to some places we had never been in Chester and which the general public can’t get into. We had a really enjoyable time and the tour is well worth the money. Also worth noting that last year, when we had to cancel the tour due to personal reasons the company refunded the money and were so helpful and understanding. A lesson for the big ‘corporates’ out there!!
